So am I right to assume that loosening the backstay tension will flatten the upper half of the sail?

Been novice sailing for years and never had my boat set up for an adjustable outhaul. I think the hardware is there and I'll try rigging it next season. Thanks for the explaination.

Great explanations in your videos. I've got one season in, hauling out for the winter today, have learned a lot in one season, even more due to your videos. Would be great if you had a diagram or pdf summary of the sail adjustments and what they do. Thanks for all you've done!
