The powder in fire extinguishers compresses over time. So inspect the gauge to see you still have gas, and turn it upside down. You will feel it move.
The ones in my furniture shop, when they get dusty, we take them down, move them about, clean, and remount.
Reduces the failure rate enormously.

Yeah, i'm sticking with baking soda, doesn't expire, puts out diesel, and its a cleaner so you can get all that grease and soot after it cools.

In reflection, I will not be mounting any fire prevention gear above or near any cooking surface. I feel like if that grease fire was serious, he wouldn't have been able to safely reach for the fire blanket or extinguisher

I would rethink having any kind of curtain over the portlight above the galley stove.

Fireports are not common on older boats. They should be.

That red helmet does not fit properly… that could lead to unnecessary injury , either way it's a hindrance in such a situation
