Behind the "police story" the show is about friendship, honesty, integrity and love. The main character lives his life simply following these principles.
And I think this is why the show was very popular… among the older ones. Despite the world changing Walt refuse to change himself. A great man.

I loved the first three years, then they turned it into another nighttime soap and it went downhill fast.
