I did this in my bath using a duck as a scale model of the ship, with my Corgi no1 ship launcher. Same problem. I managed to get the boat upright by emptying the bath and then slowly refilling it which righted the duck/ boat without any issues. I think if they just empty the ocean and then slowly refill it for any future launch problems, then they should be okay.
