Wait but why do all these people that buy a Fiat seem to end up saying they're horribly engineered and more or less built to break down? Is this brand of car actually that shitty? And if so can we maybe convince Pres. Trump to ban their importation until the problem is addressed?

A friend of mine has one of these. Says it's been in the garage more than the road and that they totally regret buying it. Someone in my work also got one as a hire car, and, as a passenger, I can say it wasn't very comfortable. To be fair to the 500x, it isn't just it that's crap, it's all these silly wee soft roaders. Ford Ecosport, Honda HRV, Renault Captur, Vauxhall Mokka and so on, they are all rubbish compared with the cars they are based on!
Very poor services and very difficult to get genuine spare parts service network is not satisfactory
What puts me off is the euro ncap safety rating of 3 stars

I owned one of these for 6 months, a Cross Plus – loved the look and drive but sold after 6 months due to terrible electrical faults – it went back to the dealer once a month to fix issues – I guess it’s true what they say about Fiats build quality – will never buy Fiat again

I love them both. I owned a 500 for a while but the wife wanted a bigger car so i got the 500x. 49k+ miles now and noproblems at all. Very reliable and so much fun to drive.
With Gopedal, lightweight pulley it feels like a mini ferrari.

Nice review. I've seen several reviews of this car which I'm thinking about buying. The 4×4 Mk1 version though which is important for us. Strangely, the reviews contradict each other about important matters like comfort, space and practicality. I suppose they are subjective judgements so bet to go look and try for ourselves.
We presently have a diesel Panda 4×4 and that has served us well with winter tyres in the rural hilltop village where we live with cold icy snowy or wet winters. The Panda is adept at pulling larger cars out of muddy icy involuntary off road excursions and I imagine the 500X would continue that performance but with more space and comfort.
