C'mon! Blame containers when you have proof. It could've been anything. Very few containers are lost overboard cargo ships every year, and each one is reported. They mostly sink quickly, too. It's not impossible that he hit a container, but its not likely either. It's much more likely that it was a big tree log. Thousands of large trees are washed out to sea every year and they will easily weigh a few tonnes, and be floating very low in the water for months before they sink. One of these can cause immense damage, not least to a light composite hull like this…

Container ships should be made to report if they have lost cargo immediately upon discovery.. They do do regular checks of their Cargo in transit. Wow can't imagine the shock of a collision like that.
