Hmm. But wouldn't the trawler style hull be difficult to maneuver while sailing? It doesn't ride like a sailboat, it looks like a sudden high gust could tip you over much easier.

So is the idea that you only sail her in very calm seas, then switch to the motor in rougher seas? I had an idea to use a shallow draft aluminum hull, similar to the Dashew FPB, but just have the kite system in back (which can give you 4 knots) and maybe a small or medium square sail mid to front. Then if the wind was favorable you could deploy both to save fuel or add speed. But the FBP is made to surf, and this trawler isn't. Just curious, since I do like the wider beam on trawlers, just didn't think it would work.
