  1. Seems like he's trying really hard not to use the word "cheap" when talking about the materials used on the boat, but it's the most appropriate word to describe it. I like the design overall, and I'd be interested in seeing some proper sea trials to get an idea of her performance, but for the money they're asking they need to get someone in to do a better job on the interior. Maybe talk to the people at Xquisite catamarans. Their interiors are gorgeous!! I'd also like to hear an update on how they overcame their quality control issues, with the transoms on a number of their first boats coming completely off at sea.

  2. Its kind of dumb you can't drive the boat from in side the cabin only out side? I sure wouldn't want to be at the helm when there's high waves, wind or rain looks to me like you would be very uncomfortable and get your ass kicked out there. Plus why would you have gps and all the electrical navigation equipment inside that should be in front of the captain at the helm? A Lot of things to fix on these boats. also you should b able to control the sails from in side as well ! But otherwise its a nice boat!!!!

  3. If I was rich this would be what I would get. So much space, it's a house on the water that you can sail with characteristics closer to a mono hull than a cat. Can someone please give me one of these…..lol

  4. This actually has the potential to be a fully electric or hybrid unit. I would get rid of that noisy gas engine for sure. Tour a 'Quiet' unit and you'll be blown away.

  5. These things flip over real easy, always see owners crawling around the upturned boat shouting for help, in the Solent.

  6. The fact that the engine is completely un garded in a space like that is shocking. youd only go in if there was a problem. Risking ripping your arm off is stupid. What other short cuts are there?

  7. I'm just curious why more Cat builders have not opted to design a trimaran? If the benefits are as good as they seem, it's crazy that not every builder has at least one model for sale

  8. I always benefit from Toby's reviews. Given the Neel's highly charged review history, I'd be very interested in a more critical perspective on seaworthiness and finish. Given some of Toby's previous reviews I've watched, perhaps the most instructive things from this video is what he didn't say.

  9. Saw one in Miami yesterday…No it’s not that much space because it’s all on one level so you do make a sacrifice and that is actually what makes it so cool

  10. Soooooo silent. If you hadn’t shown the water and sheets I’d have thought she was at anchor. WOW.

  11. I have raced monohull sailboats from Hawaii to California from California to Mexico and everything else is what I'm looking for now is what the America's Cup has done I'm looking for a trimaran that can be modified to fly and go around the world I know how to handle it and what to do but I can't find anything decent and everybody thinks their stuff is just top-shelf course that's because they're trying to get as much money out of it as possible any help out there

  12. Pity about the very poor quality of the fittings and carpentry. This is not a boat that you could trust on a trans atlantic cruise.

  13. the middle hull is incredibly stupid used. there is such a small motor inside this big hull. put it in the back of the boat. and use the front of the hull for storrage or sleeping space. also you could put something in to isolate the noise from the engine. trust me if you hear engine sounds over 3 hours you get insane.

  14. Trimaran is arguably the best boat type: tris are more generally more stable and safer than catamarans, which are generally more stable and safer than monohulls.

Hopefully other makers will enter the trimaran market with boats that have better construction quality and interior quality than Neel. Corsair, Dragonfly, Rapido, even Marsaudon would be my choices long before Neel.

That said, like some of the Neel layout ideas.

  15. No, it very much NOT like a monohull – someone is a tri-hull fanboy who wants to appeal to the mono hull fans (which is most sailors – even accounting for cost).
