If the length of the boat is measured in feet, why is everything else in meters? Better? Why aren't we measuring the boats in meters?

I really don't understand the ratios on the new Amel. Asked them but no reaction yet. For example the B/D ratio for the Amel 50 is horrible for bluewater cruising, no number on AVS, no polars. Can you clarify?

They give the boats lots of freeboard because it has a better righting moment….. yeah riiight….

I suspect that these boats need to have lots of freeboard because they have a relatively light displacement spread over a large area, means the hull sits very very shallow In the water. This means the sole (floor) sits high in the water. Combined with good headroom in the cabin, that means high freeboard.
