Of course there is nothing to argue with here, dead on in fact. Maybe you missed one: you can lose everything you have in an hour.
My view now: you need to have a REASON to be on the sea, something more than "I want the experience". It seems to me that you need to accept a certain level of tough, primitive discomfort in order to KEEP IT SIMPLE. Almost everyone makes the mistake of requiring too many conveniences. An adventure is tough by definition, don't try to screw with that reality, that is contradictory.
The boat must pay for itself which means in this century, sadly and inevitably, tourists. Set yourself up to accept and enjoy the necessity of showing tourists a special experience. Make 'em pay and set out the rules: if you cant take a bit of a beating and a loose schedule stay in your hotel.
People who live on things like Wharrams seem to have a better time despite their lack of amenities; they are unusual and cool and exotic and they easily attract attention and customers. Fiberglass yachts not so much. If a Wharram and a white monohull rock up to a beach together people swim out to the Wharram.
And older men (the biggest demographic), my most important advice: do anything but become a skinny-legged alcoholic on a dirty boat at anchor, that is the fate of so many who don't have a plan.

I'm a 1st time caller to your channel , I like you two …. it's always nice to see all the youtube beautiful couples with the mussels and boobs out all over the place and living the dream aboard a sailing boat, going this amazing place or that . They spin-it and get the hits on Youtube and the income generated, but don't present the real truth of what it's really like. 12 yrs of sailing this is solid advice born from hard yak doing it everyday . Boats and boating life is a love hate relationship , but when it's good OMG it's good and all the hard hard stressful yak falls away with those endless Sunrises / Sunsets most will never experience..

Boric acid … goodbye roaches (ants and tiny critters, if overwhelmed, mix with bit of sugar, they will all die). Rats…very smart and very persistent, rats cannot abide certain coffee grounds, oregano, cayenne and pepper (mint, garlic, lavender, basil and thyme). Love affair with cheese, milk, any meat product and most any veg. Clean with pine oil, turpentine, cloves and vinegar. Boats with cleaning tricks make happy love nests, bags!! Bag utensils keep special grab bags for top deck and bags for cabin. Make a habit of mixing own formula for kitchen (like mint? Like clove? Like rosemary…not only clean but repels rodents, mice and roaches. Buy pure h2o2 peroxide! in addition water makes much more effective cleaning – for $1k you can make a decent, not long lasting water maker, yes add carbon filters to your 5 and 20 micron house filter pack from the hardware store… – pressure pump but pressure washer pump do a great job in non-saline water and last at least year on high seas! Cleaning now is 20x easier. Likeee? Anybody can learn to tack weld, stuff marine putty in emergency hull holes, sew a rip sail, recover an anchor, and solder wires (not hard), test a fuse (really, electric on boat is vital so take very basic video tips … you can … Do It!) nobody mentions sick, ill and monthly attacks but that is a consideration. Keep monthly tea, herbs, heat pads and etc. in a Bag!! Don’t ever run short of toilet paper … ever. Just sayin’
