I really prefer ketch rigs. sailed on a 60 footer (at the waterline) years ago. double ended steel ketch with a full keel. if you wanna see something similar look at the "Joshua".. Moitessier's boat. that boat sailed around the horn several times in the 60's. nice weather this time of year and they're far enough North to stay out of hurricane paths as they rarely get above 30N on their westerly crossings.

Bravo everyone! I'm not surprised at all to see that such talented people are still coming into the program as teachers and crew. The asea portion for me is the component that brings the whole experience full circle and offers the greatest possibilities for the greatest growth in the students. It galvanizes their sense of community and the absolute importance of the individual to the whole.

It's nearly 40 years since I met Wallace Stark aboard Sea Cloud as well as Phil Sacks, both consummate professionals and who contributed so much to SEA over the years. Wallace hired me into shipyard back in 92 I recall, to do some rigging work on Westward and Corey. My AB & Bosun when I was Chief Mate on Californian back in 91, went to work for SEA for many years, Jen Irving. Jen is perhaps the most complete seaman I have ever known! Keep teaching self-reliance and the importance of the individual to the whole as well as the science, with great people across the shore and sea components and in another 50 years others be watching another of these videos and being awed and inspired! Again BRAVO!
