Această barcă de 9 ft a navigat peste jumătatea drumului în jurul lumii. Un tender care se împarte în jumătate pentru a economisi spațiu pe punte, a fost barca ideală pentru circumnavigarea noastră. A avea o mică barcă cu vele pe care o putem folosi pentru a explora râurile și plajele țărilor pe care le vizităm a fost o bucurie absolută. În acest videoclip, vom împărtăși punctele bune și rele ale deținerii unui barca de canotaj din lemn ca licitație pentru iahtul nostru de croazieră cu apă albastră Florence.   1. Hi thank you for sharing this amazing video. You mentioned that your dad built the dinghy for you. I think he did an incredible job building the dinghy. Since I am not very handy, I am not sure I can build one myself so I am wondering if I can hire him to build one for me as well.

  5. Yup. After years living with and sorta hating an inflatable on our Cal34, my Covid Project was a nesting Chameleon. I love her. For all the reasons listed here. Still debating the rig. Currently a lanteen off a sunfish…which is tough with all 3 aboard. Watched your video to see rig choice. Like your rig. Sabot-ish. Still would be tough with 3 abourd. Thinking to try a loose foot gaff.

  9. Why did you go with 9' version, while it seems like there could have been room for a 10' one?
    I am just about to finish my 8' Two Paw boat that I started to build probably because of this video. And now I want to built another one

  10. Why not get one lipo battery and a small trolling motor, 30lb thrust should do fine? I'm sure sponsorship for these items is guaranteed. Charge the lipo off of the panels and only row when you want the exercise.

  12. It's a very good build and solution. Well done to your father! One concern though.. it is stored on top of your emergency escape hatch. Is that also a compromise?

  15. Your Dad's a star. It's the perfect tender for a mid-sized yacht. An inflatable skirt or even a couple of large-diameter pool noodles would make it even better.

  17. Hi Guys. I recently completed building a 35' Wylo 2 steel sailing boat and I chose a Danny Green Chameleon nesting dinghy for many of the same reasons as you. It nests on the main deck just in front of a hard dodger in some custom built wooden chocks. Although it is a joy to row or sail we intend to fit her with an electric out board, probably E-propulsion. We recently discovered another benefit as we had rowed ashore on a rocky beach at high tide and when we returned , the ocean was a quarter mile away over a very rocky beach, so we unbolted her and carried half at a time to the water.. Much easier. Great videos!!

    I have thought a hard dinghy is best though i have used RIBs mostly. i like you can sail it.

  22. I have a small 8' pram and it was hand built by the guy I bought it from. Going to convert it to nesting and use it as a tender once I get a bigger boat. Glad you're enjoying and thanks for the video!

  24. Yes, I had thought that one of you would hold on the other side of the dingey, in the water.
    Dingey, being the only experience I myself have had of any water-borne adventures, I was able to calculate that.
    You'd be surprised the number of people who don't even get as far as a dingey.!! I've met people who can't even swim.!!!
    So, little wonder the great success and inspiration of your videos.
    When I get to the final episode I'll be waiting to see what has happened next, but I think I'll be recommending your contacting Holywood.

  28. So nice to see you enjoying your Spindrift. I built a ten foot one for our Cobra 10.50 Charmer in Panama. She's called Cheeky and she's almost twenty years old now. She sails really well, rows like a dream and is easily powered with our little 2 hp Honda. We've had so many adventures with her I could write a book. I added the second rowing position you mentioned for when you have two on board and added a removable fore and aft seat that allows a single person to work an outboard (with a pvc tube throttle extension) and keep the boat balanced. I'd recommend the Spindrift to anyone with even a little woodworking experience. As a crusing dinghy it's got everything you'll need and gets a lot of positive attention.

  30. Thanks for this useful video! I was wondering: have you considered to build an 2ft middle section to increase its buoyancy for an extra person? it seems that might fit just in front of your mast. Myself with just a 24ft boat i'm very happy with the itiwit canoe

  31. It's absolutely awesome for all of the reasons you say. Also its very cool to have a tender which morphs into something half the size and is even a platform for safer working on the foredeck. Thumbs up from me!

  35. Yes, I'm seriously considering it. The boat I'm building is way smaller than Florence at 20ft, so it might have to be even smaller than yours. In fact I may not even need a dinghy. since it's a centerboard boat and it can be beached. We'll see. Cheers guys. That was v. interesting.

  39. Great video on the dinghy, in college we build a fiberglass 12 dory that we towed to Catalina, and now I am very interested in building a nesting Spindrift 11 for my Ericson 37. I love to row and sail a dinghy, not fond of gas outboards.
