  1. Everyone is an expert……wait the MAIB investigation report. There is a reason this incident occurred, possibly a number of reasons.

  2. Computer glitch locked engines control out from the bridge. Captain saved the road bridge and hit the cheap stuff. He did good.

  3. "Captain" blamed the computer for going kamikaze mode not once but twice. Odd how these things don't happen in the middle of nowhere but only when the person in charge panics and needs to deflect blame.

  4. Must not prejudge , the report has not been published yet. It appears that there was a serious fault with computer software and the Captain had two choices, either take the bridge down or do what he did. Thankfully there was no loss of life. I’m sure this very experienced Captain will be totally vindicated.

  5. So somebody slapped together a “deluxe megayacht fly by wire system” with Labview running on an old Windows PC, and sold it to the yacht build for a couple million?

  6. This is like watching a really drunk person try to park, maybe stop reversing and you’ll cause less damage lol

  7. It is a very tricky area and shallow. Trying to hold your position while the waiting for the bridge during the Heineken Regatta on a windy morning was always a challenge. This had to be a mechanical / electrical failure.

  8. I look at this and think about the conversations of designing "Fly by Wire" into Formula 1 cars (machines) I don't think I would be comfortable in any situation where I don't have manual control over my systems. My 50' Ketch can be a handful to dock in crosswinds and I can't imagine not having full manual control.
