Can u tell us how many spline the prop is?
What size new propeller? And brand
Less pitch take off is faster more pitch give you more top end
Can't wait to watch your hydrofoil videos
I did the same swap and didn’t notice much difference.
I am now thinking the shaft is too long for an inflatable boat.
They don’t really specify long or short shaft on these Hangkai. But they seem to all be long. 20”
I’m just learning about all this stuff though.
What do you think?
I did a prop comparison video of a similar 6hp Mercury with hydrofoil but went down to a 6” pitch. Much quicker on plane but 2mph less top end. 16mph vs 14mph. Hydrofoil eliminates all cavitation when up on plane. 6” prop ends up hitting rev limiter on engine, so wide open throttle isn’t advised.
Does the Hangkai not use a shear pin ? And what engine is it a clone from ,, as for parts and the new prop ? Thanks
can you post a link to the prop?
I had a mech at a custom prop shop tell me once, if you want to go fast get a bigger motor and stop chasing a race car with a mule. I had a 17 foot lowe bass boat with a 48 ev, on it and I kept going to him trying diff. props and hydro foils you name it. he was right.
Hair Pin? COTTER PIN!
Can you share the type of prop you used? I want to upgrade my hangkai.
Will you please do a test of the 6 hp on a 12' modified V hull for speed and planing before I waste my money on a outboard that I do not want? I asked you once before to do this because there are many owners of this type boat out there who are looking at this outboard as a possible purchase. Help us out, will you?
I had the same hangaki 6hp two stroke I added a small hydrofoil to it and plained immediately with the stock prop.. I was very happy with the results running it on a 3-4 person inflatable
Good little outboard, i upgraded to a 7.8 x 9 from a 7.8 x 8, more push, top end speed and smooth
