Just curious, does this kind of expedition yachts (this one in particular) use carbon or alloy masts? I'm used to the cycling/mtb world, and altough carbon fiber has a stronger mechanical resistance/fatigue, at least on mountain bikes, the impact strengh is way lower than alluminium, being weak against hits/debris etc, also if any cracks happen they break dramatically compared to alluminium wich tends to bend before breaking
