Love my Baba 30! Bob Perry designed, and still does design, so many great boats. The Tayana is great but if I went bigger the Valient 40 would be my pick. Oh and my water tanks are split between both settees along with a waste tank and my diesel tank is under the floor just ahead of the engine.

The company building Tayana boats was Ta Yang, they have been closed of business since 2020 September

Robert Perry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Perry_(yacht_designer) designed several models for them: CT-37 (1976), CT-54 (1975), CT-56 (1986), CT-65 / SCORPIO 72 (1983), Tayana 37 (1976), TAYANA 47 CC (1991), TAYANA 47 DS (1991), Tayana 48, TAYANA 52 (1983)

For Ta Yang, another Robert, Robert Harris also known from MacLear & Harris, designed the Tayana Vancouver 42 and Tayana 65.

Finding these boats "everywhere" was part of the plan: Ta Yang means "big ocean" in Mandarin, and Tayana means "belongs to big ocean".

Their boats seem legit and thats why they hold their value so well. I saw one video where the owner had neglected their Tayana and it had leaks and mold all over, very painful to see someone mistreat a great boat that could have been cared for by someone else that deserves it.

My understanding is they have an incapsulated, iron keel, instead of lead. I'd be bothered that if any water got in, and I have to think it does, my keel is corroding out from under me. Is this not a legitimate concern?

I watch your videos all the time and your great but my favorite boat is the Hans Christian 48T center Cockpit the rear birth is amazing and the Pullman birth is just as good , she sails good and all her tanks are in the keel and her lead also , they didn’t make her in a ketch but her sister ship the 43 they did . Do a review on this boat please ! Thank you P.S. I had a 1984 Hunter 34 for 12 years my first boat I learned a lot in those years and the Hunter was very nice for our first boat !

Really missed some scandinavian boatyards like Swan or Najad on the list of well known sea worthy yachts.

They are extremely comfortable at anchor compared to the lighter modern designs, comfortable and safe at sea too. Timeless beauties. Their keel is also very safe when you accidentally go bumping the bottom and the cutaway and narrow fin profile makes her surprisingly fast once they get moving.

Personally, if i had to do it again, I would look at the modified fin wth skeg Perry boats, like the Passport or the Valiant, you gain a bit more agility and loose little.

Those looking at Tayanas, also check out the Baba's, which are very similar Perry designs.
