New engine, new alternator that will charge your housebank and you can be Diesel Dan again. 🙂 From my couch it looks like a dependable motor is the best way to go.

I would not go with a volvo unless you have no other choice. Volvo makes good engines but the parts are brutal. Every part is more like 50% to 400% higher price than then equivalent part on a yanmar. Some are well that isn't too bad but still always more expensive and some are "you got to the fkn kidding me" expensive.

Big fuss about something that happens every day in the world of boats. I sailed for over 30 yrs and had 2 engines blow up on me. Replaced them and carried on. Mind you that was before the days of YouTube where a blown engine is a three act Shakespearean play.

MASTRY Engine in St. Petersburg FL can get you the mix elbow for your motor. I have the exact same engine in my boat and had the same problem. They took care of it ($400!)

So look...for every Diesel Splitter Hose dealer, and hardware store, and kool-aid stand, there's 25 of Those Guys.

Older ones have more Magic Junk on top shelves, and more experience in patching structural steel with spit and dead leaves.

You know Those Guys are there cuz there's roads, and roads mean motors.

One way to find gear heads is by following clusters of black stripes on roads.
