I’m staring to get the idea you like sugar scoops and walkthrough transoms As well as lean more toward what I would call the yacht club racer boats. And frankly you represent what MOST sailors actually do with their boats. Most don’t actually live on their boats full time sailing them around the globe and crossing oceans. So (many may live in marinas full time but shit you don’t even need a boat capable of sailing to be a marina liveaboard) your right for most people buying a Hans Christian Blue water beast is buying the wrong boat. Heck even Hans Christian’s made NOW no longer are full keel double Enders. And they have more in common with a Beneteau then the boats they built in the past that their reputation as a blue water world cruiser was built on. I would say for modern NEW boats most boats built and sold ARE what you prefer. Few NEW boats are built for the ocean adventurer today Kraken yachts is probably the only modern production boat putting blue water long passage making a priority( island packet and Hans Christian are living on past reputations BUT the truth is the boats they build today actually got the needs of their buyers more then the full keel tanks they once built

Moody 31- better in many aspects, But keel made of steel, crumbles from rust and falls off.

I would say Catalina 30 from the 80's. Huge inside, built strong and overall super comfortable cruiser.

Just bought a Pearson 30 at auction. Don’t know much about it but the previous owner seemed to be transparent, it was a donated boat. For $20+$300 fee I didn’t expect it to be perfect but it seems to be decent. He was using it in August. I’ll be sailing out of Monroe, MI on Lake Erie.

My favorite 30 footer is the one i can efford and the one i own. It got the open transom and yes the rudder. Because! What is the point to have an open transom and put a wheel in the way.? It got a super finn keel in lead and draft 5’10´’. Phrf of 145. Not a rocket but it goes fast. Faster than most other 30 and often bigger boats of same age. Fracted rig sit on the keel . Good interior with alft closed cabin. And head with shower on the other side. The rest is open with a v birth in front. Diesel engine westerbeke 13 with which it goes 6.5 knots easy. Displacement of 6800 lbs.
Not a very well known boat as the cie go bankrupt (like allmost all others Canadian sailboat builders at that Time) about à year after they start the production of that super sailboat.
Is anyone else ever sail an Aloha 30 1987?
