  1. You need a shock absorber on the lines that will take the stress away from cleats and will be safer and more comfortable.
Here in Sweden, we have a strict rule to have it in the dock if you park for longer.
l would prefer to be on anchorage than to be sitting into the dock. If you secure your boat it doesn't mean the others and that can be very dangerous for you.

    Good luck.

  2. I wonder who made the decision to use those cast aluminum cleats instead of either billet aluminum or stainless just to save a few bucs?
Happy it worked out in the end but there's no way I would want my boat there for a worse blow. I mean considering the failures we just saw in the construction and choice of materials that went into those docks builds. Sometimes it's okay to save a few bucs but not when it comes to equipment like cleats or interconnects for the docks themselves one of which also failed. I'd be willing to bet there's a lot more damage to that marina that we can't see.
Thank you for the video and sharing just what it's like being caught in even a tropical storm let a lone if it had been worse like even a cat 1 hurricane.

  3. Awesome job with preparation and staying on top of the situation. I use bungee on my lines so they stretch and to help from snapping a cleat off your boat or the dock.

  4. Also this video is a good example of the natural "diversity" of men and women. The Mother takes care of the child. The man is outside with other men to safe goods and help other people while its dangerous. And thats ok! 🙂

  5. I’ve done thousands of miles of offshore racing, and we have a way of gauging the wind without instruments. Below 20 there’s very little noise (racing boats are extremely noisy regardless!) 30+ the wind tends to screech in the rigging, 40+ it turns into an eerie moaning sound. Anything sustained above 40, you’re in a world of hurt if you’re offshore. Typically above 40 you’re bare poles or storm trysail and just running with the seas trying to ride it out.

  6. Geez can't believe those beautiful Cats, where no one is protecting them,, OH oh,, accept for you thank goodness…See I'm old School,, are you Worthy of owning a beautiful boat like a Cat,, I can see that you are SIR, this video was really cool,, the way the floating docks were bouncing 4 ..5 ft. was scary looking,,, you and your wonderful family did an excellent job of helping others,, I give you,, applaud for this video 📷.

  7. Such a nice bunch, not showing off. If you ever in mediterrenean south france roussillon or sardinia, would love to meet. Great spear fishing on rocks

  8. Jeremiah you are a Hero, putting your life on the line to help tie down the other boats during a Hurricane. Awesome film coverage of the docks during the Hurricane. As terrifying as it was to watch, I can't imagine how it felt to be in the middle of this !!
Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe. May God continue to bless you, your family and your adventures.

  9. I’ve always wondered what it’s like to sail but I doubt I could do it cuz I get sick just being on the lake for to long not a strong enough motion sickness med over the counter to completely rid of the sea sickness for me to be able to go on the ocean a long period a couple hours n I’m sick as hell

  10. Superbe vidéo, vous montrez vraiment ce qu'est la vie à bord… Pouvez vous me dire quel est le modèle de votre catamaran ? Merci pour votre réponse

  11. I used to live aboard a 38' wooden sloop in (at that time) Salem (MA) Harbor. Had a big storm go through. The Cape Ann lighthouse had an anemometer that broke at 75-80 knots. I was in a small marina. We had BIG tides, but were tucked in behind a power station, giving us a little wind protection. Especially at low tide. Doubled up all dock lines and ran a few extra, and lots of chafing gear. A number of us had to get together to save some boats that had not been prepared for the storm. Trying to sleep aboard was wild! Many boats (but not mine) were damaged. Better, and cheaper, to over-prepare!

  12. A marina is the worst place you could be. So much potential debris, boats breaking away, etc. you’d be better off heading out and dropping multiple anchors
