So interesting. I have been looking for a cross between the Amel 55 or 50 and the Garcia 45. Totally automated single-handed sailing with the advantages of an aluminum shell and retractable keel. Both have safty but I really love Amels totally protected cockpit, in-mast furling mainsail for instant reefing, and its all-electric sheet and furling system. That said I love Garcias retractable keel that gives you 3.5 feet of draft(!), duel-level living space that puts you at a 270-degree view with the nav station smack up front for night watch. Both vessels have excellent safety features, watertight bulkheads, redundancy, diesel and water storage. I think I am looking for either an Amelcia or a GarAmel 🙂

You don't take dogs or cats with you on a long trip! The dog has little opportunity to walk, has to do its business on the deck or wherever, and cats have to stay inside! What shoud that? On a short boat trip of a few hours, dogs are fine, but when people are on the Atlantic for weeks, dogs don't belong on the boat. Here you can see that these people only think of themselves!
