#bulkcarrier #foodaid #sailor

Seems like your cruise over to "Do your bootie" was good. I'm a Sailor, but a Military/Warship Sailor (U. S. Navy), Retired. It's a shame your port visits were very short. When we visited a Port we had at least 2 weeks sometimes more. We stood watches too, berthing, hangar bay, flight deck, port, underway, ashore, all types of watches. You have your own berthing, we had to share with other dudes (eww). But it was all good. Pay probably not as good as yours but I enjoyed my 20 years in the Navy.

I'll never forget the time working aboard an MSC ship, Djibouti was a regular stop. Well, Djibouti is a big camel transit point for Africa and the Middle East. On this occasion I wanted a picture of all of the camels in the holding pen. I passed my camera over to a worker who said he'd take my pic inside the pen. As soon as I jumped into the cage the guy takes off running with my camera. Lesson learned, but very poor country

Do you switch to something like MRE’s if you run out of “Fresh Food?”

Just found your channel this week. Really like them so far. I spent 4 years in the USCG then did about 3 years in the NMU out of the Boston Union Hall. The last 6 years my wife & I were RVers off & on.

What speed does the boat move at?

Its funny how delivery drivers b@%$ if they dont get tips for driving 1 mile to deliver your food… but no one recognizes those who deliver 1000s of miles in container ships… let my tip go to THEM. (Truckers too)

  • Jaughn

the dolphins gave the ship +7 speed

This is what I was talking about in my other comment the greater good and so forth and the similarities between people like you and military members. It’s awesome being on that world scale and it’s cool to do things that help people. It is something you can’t find and regular jobs Very easy. And that feeling and understanding you get is something most citizens of most countries do not understand they only know what is in front of them

Any chance we might get a video of your buddy playing Black Gold? Cause that's gotta be my favorite version.

Who operates the cranes on these ships? The deck crew or people from the dock?

  • Bryan Naumann

Help. Who does the music at the 8 minute point to 11 minutes, the same song is at the end. What song and who is it?

  • ShibaSurfing

Is it ever hazardous having all that grain dust around? I know silos do blow up sometimes. But I’m guessing that maybe the humidity helps? Great video! Loved watching

  • Bobby Viti

Great video Joe, really tells the story. I have always been interested in your line of work…I ride trains from New York to New Jersey, I see the container ships all the time! Keep the videos coming….Where are you now?

  • Steve Nikitas

Nice video. It shows why YouTube is so successful. Content creators have infinite possibilities. Otherwise we'd probably never see this type of story.

  • JulianShagworthy

65 days?? That's an average speed of about 5 Knots! That trip should be 3 weeks max

  • olaf jensen

Interesting. Wanted to go to sea from school. I could not get the union card here in the UK, so went military

  • olaf jensen

How is the cleaning water removed? Do the bays have drain holes then?

  • Richard Conte

I would never want to spend all those days and weeks at sea. But you seem like a cool dude bro

One of my last stops in the Navy was Djibouti. Standing Quarterdeck watch I saw these "dogs" walking around on the pier. My pier sentry told me those were RATS!
