I'm glad to see you're tethered to your boat, I've been seeing solo sailors that fell off their boats and the boat sailed away, what if when you can't see land you put out a drag line about 75 ft., it would give you time too grab it if you go over board. It would be another line of defense for solo sailors.

Hey Nike, i really like you new head sail. That 3rd reef is a good idea. Safety 1st. I see your clipping your teather as you play around your wind vane. Great idea. A jackline from the cockpit to the mast and forward to the bow roller on might be a good idea.

I have enjoyed a week or two watching the eight years of repairing and sailing Karl. Now I am caught up and hoping there will be more. I wanted to say it was very impressive watching you struggle with the boat and your own emotions. I know the strength it takes to keep working when all seems to be failing. I also appreciate your problem solving and mechanical skills and your obvious abilities to make friends and share your experiences with us. I'm 73 and retired and I am trying to decide to buy old and repair or buy newer and just sail, but like you I enjoy the "engineering" and hoping to be able to manage long solo passages before my body betrays me. Thanks for a great trip and may you have many more.
