Man… I ALWAYS dislike the process of moving the outboard from the boat to the dink and back. It is such an award process and the ever present fear of donating the thing to Davey Jones' locker doesn't help. Looks like a great set up though: nice and light!

We were hopeful that France or Spain would come up with an option for us to stay longer but it wasn't to be, regrettable thats why we brought our boat back to the Uk along with the added complication of Covid at that time.The cruising areas around the Balearics are very expensive.I hope for you and for many others a solution is found.

The little 2hp Johnson is a great outboard motor. I have the same and even at 70 years young ... I can lower it from pushpit to dinghy quite easily. Ideally after use, when you can, run some fresh water through it. I do this on the pontoon with a tap into a bucket as it's quite easy to hold the outboard and run it...honestly. I like the sound of your plans but remember the Schengen countries and the 90 day rule. Once you make first port of call the 90 day clock starts ticking. Great having fun on your boat with friends. Always enjoyable to to take friends out for sail to have a beer and share the experience. Wow thats some plan, it certainly doesn't sound like your your going to take it easy by starting off with baby steps! Enjoy the experience theres nothing more enjoyable than long term cruising. I'm sure you know but you need to keep aware of the time you spend in Schengen EU countries as your only allowed 90 days in 180days, The areas your planning to cruise Africa is your option to stop the clock, unless you have dual nationalities.
