1. This is good, but it is not really ready for prime time. Currently, it only fits a very “niche” market. The efficiency of the whole system (solar panels, batteries, motors, air conditioning, etc.) needs to be significantly improved. Until the system can fully operate, with enough excess power to recharge the batteries during the day, for 24 hours a day it will not make it into the mainstream. Nice start though.

  2. The criticism ive heard about this is that the pannels used degrade and wont make enough power in just five years IDK how true that is but thats the story.

  3. 100 miles of range is not enough for a yacht so expensive. If you get 2 days of rain you will be in the middle of the sea waiting, not funny at all.

  4. This is so stupid I can't believe you guys reported on it. First did anybody stop to match up the solar output vs electrical use by the refrigerator? You idiots can't even count up watts, I know you're all too stupid to consult an EE or maybe a solar installer. So… by the looks of it this yacht has about 3k to 4k watts of solar on top. That's for at most 5 hours a day because they don't tilt, less in the winter and less obviously under clouds. So let's be really really generous and say they had 5k watts of solar, with 20% lost to battery charging. LOL that about enough to run the refrigerator and that's it. It won't be enough to cook, run lights and it definitely won't be enough to run any kind of propulsion.

The reporters on Fully Charged Show are so lazy they couldn't even fact check the solar installation vs electrical demand of the boat. More importantly, the boat is billed as "Diesel and electric". Emphasis on diesel.

  5. He's actually very wrong about the wind generation. If you buy an Electricyacht engine and put it in any sailboat, go sailing and put it in neutral, it will regenerate faster than any solar option out there.

  6. I’m pretty confident solar is not ‘the cheapest solution.’ All those solar panels look a lot more expensive than sails.

  7. Full speed for 15 minutes. Can go all day at 5-6 knots…..like a sail boat. 😂😂😂 I certified the navigation systems and was aboard for initial sea trials.
