7. So, I hate to go full safety dad on you and ruin your fun SoCal vibe, but there are a few things you haven't covered in your vlogs that you really need to fix. First, fix your lifelines on the port side of the boat. Catalina Direct is a company that makes direct replacement parts for almost every model of Catalina, including your C27. Second, find and test your bilge pumps. By test, I mean pour a bucket of seawater inside your boat and figure out how it gets pumped out. Don't try and do this while out sailing, do it at the dock. If they don't work, don't go sailing until you get that fixed. Also, get a back up hand pump. Third, make sure all of your running lights work, especially your anchor light if you're spending the night on the hook. Finally, make your you have enough life jackets for everyone on board, even if they are just the cheap orange ones that come in a four pack. If the USCG rolls up on you and you don't have enough, they will write you a ticket with a fat fine attached to it. And unless you're made of money, stop shopping at West Marine.
