Fabulous spectator sport when the director lets us watch the racing, but what's with the children's games for grown sailors? It seems a bit humiliating to me, but I guess it's in their contracts as some kind of entertainment for the kids? Just seems odd and a bit embarrassing…

That terminated race is how you lose new viewers. Just horrible with boats crossing the line seconds after the ridiculously short time limit. Do better, canada deserved a win there. Go canada

As a former competitive sailor, I thought this was a fantastic event and brilliantly covered. If this was the America’s Cup they probably would have canceled both days due to wind conditions.
Pitty they couldn’t wait for more wind, first day was awesome. Day 2 was weak boring to watch

Although not the same type of excitement, I like the challenge balancing between strategies of foiling with more distance vs one-hull and more direct. Slow but still fun
35 seconds out they looked early to me. What was Pete up to? We have seen footage of the console which tells them very accurately the time to the line. They are either bang on or waaay off. I don't get it. Very frustrating.

Love the coverage but there really needs to be a few more minutes added to the max allowed time for a race. 14 minutes just seems too short. Thanks for considering this.
Sorry but this was a huge disappointment!
1.) Nothing wrong with sailing in light airs. But why not try and lay a course that provides some decent sailing even if it's not bang in front of the spectators?
2.) When the wind is so light, the 14 minute time limit is ridiculous! Sailing Mickey Mouse courses and shortening them further and further makes the competition a total joke!
3.) The broadcast director needs someone with sailing experience at this side so that the interesting bits of the regatta actually get televised and not arbitrary boats zooming around.
4.) Stopping the broadcast while the boats are just finishing the final race – well not even worth commenting.
All in all I thought SAILSGP was on a good path in 2022 but St. Tropez was a huge setback in many ways. St. Tropez might be a flashy destiny to travel to but that should not be the emphasis when choosing venues for these events.

1) One of the commentators said that it was hard luck for the Canadians to miss a first-place on the 5th race by 2-3 seconds, and concluded "but that's sailing." No, this rarely happens in sailing–and never after such a ridiculously short interval. The races should be planned better for the conditions, to minimize the chances of this happening. A 5th race debacle, and no replacement race? This isn't good spectacle.
2) If neither the commentators nor the viewers can identify the windward gate (or whether the USA correctly identified it–in which case the graphic was dead wrong), in the podium race, then there's trouble!
3) If the broadcast suddenly wraps out and cuts away before the first boat crosses the finish line, something's wrong with timing.
4) If someone could tell the commentators to not make a teenage, gnarly 'Ahhhhh/oooohhhh' & 'Nooooo!!' groaning sound, when something averse happens, a little less often–that would be wonderful.
Some major production issues in what is otherwise a talented regatta..
It's a crying shame the events are ruined by tv schedules.
1. 14 minute races is ridiculous
2. Worse is watching a race for 17 minutes (incl start) only to have no result for the sake of 3 seconds
We end up watching over 2 hours of coverage to see just 25ish minutes of racing that actually counts.
Also, these boats are always disappointing in light airs, but this is exacerbated by tiny courses that never allow them to build any momentum before they have to tack again.
I think its great seeing variable race conditions. Requires good broad skill sets.

Director doesn't seem to understand racing. Keeps showing close ups, on boards and pretty shots – at key moments in the race.
Having such a short limit on the duration of a race is ridiculous. Just because the winds are light does not mean you have to stop the race. Personally, I like the light wind conditions as it reveals the strategy of the teams. Canada got robbed.
Listening to the US commentator makes me cringe at times, like "here come the Americans"..!! Just how many Americans are actually on the boat..?
I don't get the choice of photo where the man in the helmet is baring his teeth. I'm interest in sailing, not unsportsman-like behaviour.
Ben always has these 'uncharacteristic ' errors, he goes for the risky maneuvers and they rarely come off… needs to learn patience methinks.

Can someone explain what "top/bottom/left/right" of the course the commentators refer to is with relation to boats going upwind/downwind on port/starboard tack?
Slingsby is a cry baby. He is a liar if he says he wouldn't have pushed the same if roles reversed. Another way to look at it is the the Aus boat should have backed off and given room as per the rules but didn't yet now want to cry about it because they broke the boat

Britain underperformed. Ainsley is a great solo sailor but his leadership skills need polishing, IMO. More consultative approach required. Burling is a superb example of that.
