Have either of you ever sailed an unstayed design? I remember Freedom was making them back in the late '70s, and a few others have produced a few models with carbon fiber masts. It certainly would make handling a big Genoa easier!

Hope you guys didn´t try to go to the Ilha da Queimada Grande, 100km sothwest of Alcatrazes Archipelago.

It's home to the second largest concentration of venomous snakes in the world. They are really EVERYWHERE and access to the island is forbidden for safety. As it's almost certain death.

Alcatrazes Archipelago is a natural reserve. It's known as the Brazilian Galapagos, with a population of over 10 thousand birds and 20 unique species of flora and fauna. It's protected by law and the Brazilian Navy therefore forbids tourists in it. Only researchers allowed.

Alcatraz is a word from arab meaning "the diver". Its the common name of a common bird in the island. I guess the island in San Francisco has the same name because San Francisco is of Spanish origin (and Spanish and Portuguese have some arab influences from the time of the Moors)

One Concern, y'all in light winds are up on the fore deck swapping sails or moving lines outside the to get better winds without a life jacket. A slip, a fall, or unexpected swell could toss you out of the boat. There is no quick way to turn that boat around during a man overbroad rescue. Speaking from experience. Safe travels
