  1. Hi, guys. Would you please left subnotes up just a bit longer? I'm a very fast reader, yet I have to pause and rewind to finish the second half of "alternators can generate 5kw per engine it's like having 2x 5kw 48vdc generators on board." As a guide, I recommend leaving it up long enough for you to read it out load. Thanks!

  2. Instead of pulling pieces off the mold, have they considered floating if off by infusing the space between the mold and the part with air introduced under pressure at multiple interior points?

  3. I cannot speak to paint or vinyl wrap. I can say our little 1967, 16' ski boat came with gel coat. We used it 1.5 times per week, all day, for 16 weeks a year, times 12 years. We "anchored" primarily by pulling onto sand. We kept it on a trailer in a garage. We'd give it a thorough wash and wax once a year. When we sold it at 12 years, we hit it with a polisher to remove a very light coating of oxidation, bringing the color back to showroom, gave it another coat of wax, and off it went. Very durable! The whole time, we suffered only one gouge (about a foot long, half an inch wide) that went through the gel coat but barely touched the underlying fiberglass. We scrubbed it like any wound (ouch!), roughed up the interior surface of the gouge, then used (If I recall correctly) a polyester resin and hardener to fill the gouge before shaping it to match the hull, then polishing and waxing it. That took two quarter-days. If it were my boat, that would be my option.

  4. I'm interested in the electrical system and engines! I'd love a deep dive into all the workings of how you balance electrical loads. Will you run A/C or a dehumidifier while in port?

  5. Instead of telling us what is SO great about electric drives. tell us what is so bad about diesel engines, bet I know, you guys are trying to save the planet, right… one thing you won't save is your money…. I love how people fall for all the hype and BS… my expertise, winding motors for electric vehicles…

  6. I hope this boat hybrid system will be reliable for you two. My only concern is the computer controls . I'm a firm believer of keeping it simple.

  7. I would love to know why the winglets on the keels and not on the rudders, either instead of the keels, or in addition to it. Can you ask James? This is one of the design innovations that is really interesting.

Gelcoat needs maintenance to delay deterioration, wagon waxoff buff, repeat yearly. Gelcoat is well known but not equivalent quality, IMO.
There are good quality paints that are easily repairable ( so that eliminates Awlgrip) because the colour pigments are throughout the paint layer. And some paint is remarkably tough. I've just finished torture testing Alexseal and am very impressed with it's ease of application, control of surface finish, and gloss definition of image, as well as thr toughness. The price is also impressive but not in a good way.

I researched Hybrid Marine a couple of years ago, and did not see the support infrastructure that would make me comfortable relying on a system that develops problems when cruising off the beaten path. So we went Oceanvolt. And there WILL be problems. Local trades will not have a hope of supporting a leading edge hybrid solution. What is HH plan for that system support? Relying on one guy in England?

  8. I'm excited WITH you! Nikki, that fly was sure interested in the top of your head for the last minute or two! How about International Yellow gelcoat?

  9. Everything is imagined to fit perfectly in its designated storage space until you actually move onto the boat. Only then does it become obvious that there is more kitchen stuff than kitchen cabinets (or some similar crisis with some other category of stuff). Where does the overflow go so that it will be found later? For a while, you have gifts to pass on to friends you meet, in the form of things you loved which don't pack well in the new space.

  10. As a wanna be sailer, I hope you guys will consider raffling your old boat. I can't afford to buy a sailboat like that for cash, but I would definitely wouldn't mind paying a 100$ for a chance to start my adventure in style. 😁

  11. Never apologize for enthusiasm !🎉
I love your channel. I’ve been enjoying your adventures even without your boat. As a retired senior who has moved away from the water (unfortunately) I really miss my sailing days even though it was just a weekend day sealer.
Not having much experience with sailing electronics I still have one bit of advice. When you are comparing each company to the other, and get down to two or three that are really close in what they offer for the price.
Since you do have a YT channel, call each of them and offer to promote their product for a discount!?! 🤷🏻‍♂️
Worst case they say no. Then say thanks, we’re going to see if “———“
feels the same way? Stay excited 😜

  12. I would go with gelcoat if it is white. Any other color shows oxidation and patchiness very quickly without proper upkeep and protection. I had a dark blue gelcoat that was an absolute nightmare, and you would have about 5x the area that I had to maintain.

  13. Oh my, the ride these Wynns are on takes the cake. Keep us entertained and interested. So far you’ve been excellent. Thx guys

  14. Without question; gel coat. It’s tried and true, and with your level of care you give your boat, it’s a no brainer. Aside from that gel coat is more chemically resistant , seeing how you travel through many different locations with varying degrees of composition (nice way of saying pollution) id stick with it. Paint gives you more options; but at nearly half the working life.

  15. Wow you guys are living an amazing life…so intricate…all those details…all I see is fancy boat construction…when you say all those boat jargon phrases…can’t wait to see how it all comes together…

  16. Sorry to bother you in the comment section here but it is a YouTube related item. I got the following in an email with what appears to be a legitimate email address from YouTube. The links well I’m not touching those. Anyway I’m guessing this is a scam You might want ro let people know about. “

  17. I found you, by accident, in New York. Lolol
I was watching a YTuber Vermont farmer, who was a the Global Citizen Con. ….and guess who he was standing next to on stage….he even acknowledged Jason in his video. Check out today's Gold Shaw Farm video, lolol. I know you've said you're about a month behind in posting. I just never expected to see you in someone else's video. Especially someone else I watch regularly. Lol 👍👍

  18. Just FYI. Some types of fiberglass are actually stronger than carbon fiber. The main advantage of CF is it's stiffness. For the same load FG might deflect 6x as far as the same structure out of CF.

So don't always assume CF is better. In some applications FG can be better/stronger.

  19. I have been with you guys for over 7 years and I am really excited with you. I'm looking forward to seeing that beautiful boat under full sail.

  20. You guys are sailors, got a question for you about a roller fairlead. If the jib attaches to the roller but the rope and slot method, is the jib clueless?
