From the Royal Navy 1917 Seamanship Manual, only two precise commands are required. First, is “Ready about…”. This informs the crew generally to prepare for a tack and the foredeck crew specifically (handling the fore sheets) to prepare. This command is unique to tacking and not used for any other manoeuvre. It informs the crew of the specific manoeuvre to occur—the boat is about to tack.

Second, is “Lee Ho!” This command is unique to the execution of the tack; it does not apply to any other manoeuvre.

Counting down as shown in the clip is ambiguous and uninformative and therefore to be avoided.
