Just in case you should purchase two Cabon Monoxide detectors. Stay Safe. Love the TEAM Work.

Great job on the floor! I would want to insulate those walls. It's going to get cold there in a minute! 😊 Mineral wool would be fire resistant. Foam insulation board would be easier, but you need to cover it.

It'd be tempting to put an engineered wood sub-floor on top of the concrete – with enough space under it to put some kind of home-grown heating system! Maybe a layer of polyisocyanurate foam, then a grid of timber sleepers, then a layer of oriented-strand-board as a sub-floor – maybe 2cm thick. Leave openings in the sleepers to allow heated water or air to circulate under the sub-floor. Much more energy efficient, plus much nicer under foot – easier on your feet and back.

A little too much coffee before you put up the plastic sheeting, eh 😊

Construction to be composite epoxy over wood strip planking..is that correct? Big job but makes a unique hull

Great job on the preparations!. You mentioned a dive compressor and something you might look in to is a used aircraft engine compressor. I sailed on a cat down in Mexico in the 70's and we used one that was picked up from a military surplus store. Worked great and never caused any problems. compact, cheap and reliable.

I can say that your videos are the best.. I am so eager to see this boat build with all the details..and how the family deals with life on land for the time being..

  • The Duracell Project

Wow-an exciting moment! Congrats on your decision to build your own dream boat. We are also building our dream boat and documenting on YouTube…plus we share Scandinavia in common. Would be fun to connect some time 🙂

Thanks for sharing your process with all of us.

So, who makes the heater you're using? The one outside…

Follow your dreams…no need to justify…….make it count.

I am really enjoying following your journey. I suggest changing your staged interview lighting. The back light from the window is causing your faces to be dark.

I have great respect for Johan’s long term vision and commitment to do things mostly by and for himself, in a way he feels comfortable. You can more creative when you’re comfortable. This vision is only possible with Malin’s help and support, so together both are integral to achieving his goal. I totally understand his desire to work from the bottom up. Sealing the floor is vital to this end. As someone one who has created a stable work place and tackled a dusty concrete floor, I know how important it is to control the work environment and improve the stability of the floor. Simply by repeatedly walking across a concrete floor it creates dust on the surface layers, that hopefully is substantially reduced by epoxy coating. It not only looks better and brighter, but also raises available light levels. I imagine Johan will soon be reducing the air gaps in the barn doors to conserve indoor temperature. Well done and best wishes to you all, little Vera included, on the project.

Is enclosing the hull in a frame covered by plastic vapour barrier an option to reduce the volume to be heated when working in winter?
