The small local places are always a lot of fun! A 2 hour wait for a lock passage is not unusual on the inland rivers. All part of the surprises that await those who travel along America's Great loop. We depend on the AIS on the LST 325. The Captain/Pilot has the navigation charts in the Conn on the 03 level. we have a slave display in the wheelhouse on the 01 level. We routinely monitor the location of other traffic for passing or meeting so we can anticipate when he will give us speed changes dealing with traffic.

I would think that not seeing any traffic would make me wonder it there is a blockade ahead. Glad you had smooth motoring.
