I know the forestay is slack and the fuller will bind more, but the weight of the sail and your weight on the sprit provide significant tension on the furler cable/forestay. Watching the effort necessary to unfurl that sail even with the assistance of the sail being pulled. Man I hope you look at your furlers, get them out of the elements and lubricated. They are meant to be used, that's maintenance for them. Sitting idle in the salt air does little good for anything. I think it would be worth looking into some used metal scaffolding sections. The boat yard could certainly make use of them in ways I can't even imagine. Perhaps we viewers would contribute to a fund raiser to gift such equipment to Yaba and the boatyard. A few sections of easily assembled scaffold would make a nice platform to service the bow sprit and furler.
Amazing chaos and efficiency with lots of hard work, it's exciting watching the boat become Yaba again.
