It’s called “pump mechanical seal”. I prefer drip free Teflon packing on my 26’ HT Shamrock. Less fidly.

Ah so they are using some old tech for prop shaft seal. Just like in centrifugal pumps. They use 2 ceramic discs for the shaft water seal.
