0 completely derailed and retconed Majima's character. Made him a saint. I liked him more as a ruthless enigmatic thug in ogirinal Yakuza.

Loooove coming back to this after pirate yakuza in hawaii im going to choose to pretend 0 directors doesnt exist and just say pirate yakuza was the last game so far and it ends in him developing a new personality becoming a new better person but like that post credits im not gonna say what happens just incase anyone hasnt played but jesus christ thats the majima we knew in 0

It's pretty genius how Yakuza 0 shows Majima starting out putting on an act of the perfectly polite "Lord of the Night", being such a jarring difference from how we know him, to the point that we assume that's the "real" him and something must've happened to drive him crazy or something
Only to eventually see that he decided to replace it with his "Mad Dog" persona. Essentially unchanged from how we first saw him, only now he's just wearing a different mask

Yea right. The truth is they rewrote his character in 0, but to connect it to the shit they did in later games, they make it 'haha it was planned all along!'.

I mean, after Yakuza 0 he went nuts, yes, but he wasn't like someone who would say "Kiryu-chan, you should kill street punks who attack so, let me show you how you doing it"
So yeah, they should put something in between Yakuza 0 and kiwami to make it have sence

Part of the brilliance of Yakuza 0 is that they still maintained the mystery of Majima. You learned so much about him but really nothing. He is still an enigma.

I think Majima just does this to hide all the pain he's been through. And to stay away from Makoto, if he remained the same he would feel the need to get close to her. The mad dog is another person.
