Magical show dude! Beautiful views and you are clearly well and truly happy – a rare thing in this day and age!
Thank you very much! Great video.
I remember some 50 years ago I took the bus from Skien to Odda. And the next day from Odda to Bergen. It was spring time and very beautiful scenery.
Norway was also a very good country for hitchhiking back then.
This has to be some of the most beautiful scenery on earth. Never been, but I think I'm adding Norway to my bucket list!
i hope you get to come to Sauda not to far from odda where i live. we even have a industrial plant and harbour
Can you show the engine room on a bulk ship
Superb , well done Joe
Is that TBS?
I have been unloading alots of silotrucks at Tizir in Tyssedal in Odda 😊
cool mate 🙂 my hometown were i was born is one hour drive from odda 🙂 now iam living on the coast line in haugesund city 🙂 i see you was unloading in tyssedal in odda
The coast of Norway is spectacular. Simply wonderful. I’ve been lucky to sale the coast of Norway from the arctic circle to Trondhiem, simply fantastic.
Glad you enjoyed visiting Odda! By the way, it's pronounced as it's written and the English pronunciation would be "Odder".
You should know that Western Norway is one of the wettest places on the planet.
There are literally hundreds of similar natural landscapes along the Norwegian coast. Maybe treat yourself to a visit one day?
You may also be interested to know that the popular Norwegian TV series Ragnarok was filmed in Odda, although they gave the town a fictional name.
Magnifique !!! Merci pour le partage
I used to love going up the Fjords plenty of good fishing. Making some serious cash selling duty free to the locals. Mind you it was expensive going out for a few pints but we’ll worth it. Enjoy your leave Joe. I’m stuck in Falmouth dry dock for 4 months😮😮 oh well there’s always next trip to go somewhere nice and hot 😉😜
01-23-23 …address: Anchorage, AK …..Joe your skill as a videographer and commentary is OUTSTANDING ! ! ! ALL the BEST for the NEW YEAR 👍 👍
Way back in the early 1970s I joined 2 brand new ships in Haugesund and spent a month or more there, I met a girl there the first time and when I went back she was waiting for me as I got off the ferry from Stavanger, times were good and I really loved the country and the people I met were very nice to us sailors. I visited Narvik too on one trip but mostly we were acroos the Atlantic loaded coal or sulphur or some such thing and then the long slog across the Pacific.
Yes it a great job mate, I've 30 years at it and now retired not by choice but health reasons , but still have wonderfull memories as they say from my generation should have taken more photos and put notes on the back
Being from NJ, i did not know that this was a forgazie. Meaning it’s all fake. Nice job all the same. Photo shop is awesome.
Production quality is amazing. Professional level.
Even visiting or traveling through this area many times by car the last decades the scenery here still is very different. It always have been during vacation times and I have to say the mountains looks very different, and it is not only the huge amount of snow on the tops. Actually even the sea does look different. And great that the people in Tyssedal took the time to do more than just working, must have been a nice recreation when working on a large boat like this and you in reality are at work 24/7 . Thanks for sharing !
Hope you had better weather and visibility on your way out. I don't think you mentioned it, and maybe you're not aware, but visibility permitting you can catch a glimpse of the Folgefonna glacier, Norway's third largest, up in the mountains on the west side of the fjord. You were also close to Trolltunga ("the troll's tongue") which is one of the most popular hikes in Norway, starting just a little way up the valley where you were docked.
I've driven through Odda dozens of times as part of the eight-hour drive between my house and my parents' cabin in the mountains, and the scenery is indeed spectacular and beautiful, especially when all the apple trees on the eastern side of the fjord are in bloom – the area is a major fruit growing area, with apples being the dominant crop.
Hello Joe , nice video and yes Norway is fantastic. We live in Sweden but go on holiday to the Norwegian fjords every year. Norway is great.
Great episode man. Thanks!
Reminds me of my own sailing on a car ferry on Sognefjord from Laerdal to Gudvangen back in 2009. I was more lucky weatherwise and able to make more than 50 photoshots of glistering waterfalls, white snow patches, grey granite, green meadows and colourful homes looking tiny compared to mighty mountains.
Even as a Norwegian, god damn that was beautiful.
My grandmother was born in Odda more than 100 years ago. Because her Swedish father worked in the industry there. Before they went north. So it was kinda cool to see the place. Never been there. I hope I get the chance to do so.
