Nice simple instructions, thanks
This is good for a temporary tie up. For a secure tie up use a full wrap first. This way the majority of the force is on the base of the cleat. Then you can OXXO and easily untie but also be secure in a squall or storm. If the half hitch is cinching or any use except making the end look neat then the cleat is tied up wrong. Also to note that the thickness of the line will determines if more full wraps around the base are required. The rule is for each sixteenth of diameter, one inch of cleat is suitable. Any less then more wraps. So line of 8 sixteenths suits a 8 inch cleat. Not enough wraps will cause the cleat to slip. This is mainly due to the braided line use nowadays which most knot books don’t consider as they are reprints from before modern ropes.
You shouldn't lock the knot. If you have a lot of strain on the rope you won't be able to unlock it , just put more turns on
What material is that rope
Do you have spare fingers, friends?
Walk the dock and notice how sail boats are tied vs other boats…
No, bro. No!
isn't it better to go from the boat to the dock and back and securing is to the boat? so you can immediatly loosen it if something happens and you would have two times the line meaning extra strength plus the line would be able to shift so it wont break as fast with storms
The hitch should be on the boat not the dock
You are missing one loop right?
Useful video, but with this song, are you saying you're addicted to tying knots?
Well okay then.
100% correct
If you can't tie this knot up shouldn't be on a boat at least at sea
I would use this only on boat side
Wrong … Full wrap at the bottom
I enter rope to the other horn first.
Music gay. Thumb down.
You're missing half the 0 at the beginning and the 0 at the end, which means wheb youre trying to pull it out to leave its under so much tension. Add bad weather and you're screwed
This will hold, but it is not good. This way, after few hours or a day, it will be so tight on the revers loop, you will spend some time for untying it. Alway do 0 or half 0, then full 8 and then do the reverse loop to lock it. That way, tension will have to go throug 0 then 8 and never gona get to reverse loop, so when you want to go, you will go in a second.
Wrong
That’s fine if there’s no wind or currents. That boat shifts hard good luck getting that off
That rope will chaff on the wood put your first across the top of cleat. If it's cement it will tear it I.
Nailed it!
🧐
Incorrect
Needs a locking wrap first.
Should have one full turn before a figure of eight. It helps to stamp on it, and the line needs tidying.
Temp tie up at a gas bar yes. But not over night of for lunch.
If you don't know this you shouldn't own or be anywhere near a boat 🫢
No. That's wrong. You're supposed to wrap the whole 50' of rope around the cleat. Lol
Mmm wrong —rope over NoT under JMO
