Its hard to believe there can be such an extreme contrast of weather, going sailing with the boat covered in snow why not the boat probably felt at home.

Yes it's not an everyday phenomenon but we can get snow throughout the whole winter. Obviously it's much more common in the mainland and in mountainous areas than in seaside towns and the islands. But even there you can see snow once or twice per year. And a lot of it. Before climate change it was even more frequent. So it's a totally normal thing for us to have snow.
