Hi guys, I love watching your adventures, but would you please take those plastic strips off the anchor chain? As you say yourself in the video; they will eventually fall off. There's enough plastic in the sea already. Fish and turtles choke on it or it ends up in their stomachs. So, for the animals in the sea, get those plastic strips off the anchor chain! please please please!!

Hi guys, your windlass draws about 80 amps according to thier webpage. 1000 watts. That's alot on one battery if thats the way its wired.

It is about as fast as my windlass. Having the alternator adding power to the battery bank your windlass is on would maybe give you 10 to 35 percent ish more speed. The voltage on a dry battery bank is gonna dip to like 11 volts on lead acid batteries. You should definitely have the engine on as it will boost voltage to 13 to 14.4 volts under load on the windlass. Voltage sag can burn out the windlass and increasing voltage increase the carrying capacity of the wire you are using. One reason why lithium batteries make motors last longer…basically less voltage sag.

Could be excessive IR (voltage) drop due to small/old battery, too small guage wire, or a bad connection. Hope Lofrans is helpful.
