Awww glad to find your channel over Fb group glad you are gonna cross Atlantic with SV Cuba we we live their channel too. We are planning to cross Atlantic this year too but other way from Florida to Mediterranean :-)

We use one of those ascenders attached to a climbing harness as a secondary safety when mast climbing. When I'm either climbing down or Kate lowers me I don't open the ascender right up and lock it open I just pull it back against the spring with my thumb so that if the primary line does break or Kate loses control of me for some reason then the safety will just grab back on. We have a video of how I climb with the ATN mastclimber from before we even started making proper episodes… It doesnt really show the descent but anyway the ascender used as a secondary safety is a good bit of kit. I like that you have a leg loop on it at well which is a good idea for getting up above the masthead…I might steal that! Cheers
