So happy to see the Petit bottom paint worked so well. I literally just painted the bottom of my boat with the same. I also thought I had a rudder delam issue, but it's fine, just have to patch a hole I drilled in it. Keep at it, you will be back in the water in no time.

Suggestion, next time you haul out, or if you are still on the hard, replace those stainless shaft strut bolts with frp bolts. No worries then with galvanic action eating away dissimilar metals, frp bolts will last forever.

Fellow Sea of Cortez sailer here. Because the summer sun in the Sea is HORRIBLY HOT, when when we hauled out last May I wrapped my ruder with White Tyvek house paper to keep the sun from baking it (from the sun angle in your vids, it looks like this could be your problem, The sun appears to be on the side of the Rudder that the damage / delamination occurred ;-). It's fixable! ....We are on sv Star Hunter currently on the hard in San Carlos. Hope to see you out there! ...Fair Winds & Following Seas to the south Pacific!

I love that you guys, show the maintenance side. For those of us that have not sailed but dream about it, have many questions.
How to get your boat into a marinna for repairs. When you travel to different countries, do you have trouble sourcing paint and fiberglass. Lot's of things like that are really interesting for those of us that have never sailed.

Anyway thanks for showing some of the unglamorous side of boating
