Until Elon Musk getting the Obama administration to fund Tesla Hydrogen fuel cell technology was considered to be the power source of the future. Prior to Elon Musk and other’s campaign to make electric power the power of the future Ford had publicly said and was committed to hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles. Ford had been testing this in several South American countries such as Bolivia. Until the current and I think misguided battery powered electric vehicles etc had been shoved down our throats most people understood that the every country on earth power grid was as and is insufficient to meet not only our future electric needs but barely meets our current needs and to upgrade it provided we can make enough power would take decades to do so. Lastly no one is talking about the dirty secrets of current solar power electricity production or that of wind power as well. Think about it why is Musk so dead set upon colonizing the Moon and Mars?

Boat International reported. sinking was the plan all along!!!!
Prior to the sinking, a statement from the Department of Land and Natural Resources said that the salvage operation would end in one of two ways: either with the yacht towed all the way to Honolulu, around 90 nautical miles away, or she would have to be scuttled en route due to numerous holes along her hull.

I suspect that someone wanted to punish the owner some more, but sinking the boat instead of salvaging it for sale. It is just so easy to decide to do nothing instead of saving the vessel and getting it to a drydock or on land for repairs and such, and I suspect that if they wanted to save it, they could easily have done it. It may also suggest that the salvage company they used was very inexperienced or just not any good and fucked up the whole job by first trying to tow, so the boat got a serious damage underneath. Then coming back to do it again and not consider a proper salvage job, just get it to a deep place to sink it.

The Lurssen yacht apparently uses methanol as fuel which can be sourced from plants. It then steam reforms the methanol (CH3OH) to turn it into 2H2 and CO2 (need some oxygen from air) and then to put the H2 through a fuel cell (more oxygen from air) to produce electricity and heat for various things on the boat. Of course, a battery means the fuel cell need not run all the time. As no combustion occurs, temps are a lot less, far less heat is wasted. Surely it means the engine room can be a less dominating feature of a yacht.
