You possibly may have a small air leak somewhere on your diesel system if filters were good, but a crack of the injectors one at a time whist turning her over should be temporary fix.
Some sailors rig a secondry starter button in engine bay so that you can tighten them down whilst turning her over. Looking forward to seeing Fiji.

I think I would be leary about eating raw fish. There could be parasites in it. I remember some of the halibut that I caught in SE Alaska had tiny red worms in the meat. Hope I didn't ruin your appetite. I guess there's something to the saying the calm before the storm. Man I would think those winches would be bolted on very stoutly. How about a small shot of starting fluid ? I've always figured if I ever did this I would have to have an engine thats in top shape. So james do you plan to go threw the straight of Mallaca eventually ?
