By doing that, you loosen everything up and the o rings don't do their job anymore. Congrats on your Atlantic crossing.

I'm so glad to see you managed to have a halfway swim, one of my finest memories from my own first crossing when I was 18, I and four others sailed a 30m Jongert across for some clients, we had every type of weather you could imagine but the halfway swim was unforgettable, the water was completely still, like a mirror and because we came to a complete stop there were eventually no ripples, nothing at all until we jumped in and much like your reaction, the dark and endless abyss below my feet was a sight I'll never forget, how dark and deep it was from the surface knowing we were just a tiny speck in the middle of the ocean. That was eleven years ago, can hardly believe it sometimes, but incredibly I'm sitting at 14 crossings total now, not all as perfect as the first though 😉 Well done!
