Awesome watching your videos Mark!! I realise that it takes a lot of effort to video yourself doing the work (and capturing the minute details)! And then all the detailed editing!! That "weird" hard thing You ripped off the undersight of the deckheadbeam looks like a fruiting body of one of the many wood-living fungi. You better inspect that beam much closer (and neighboring parts) to check which fungus it is and what dimension the mycelium has. Some fungi vastly reduce the strength of the wood they live in over time. Usually, fruiting starts once the original branch/trunk/beam is eaten up and spreading becomes crucial for the fungus to live on. Needs further investigation in any case. Thanks for sharing!
