Hmmm. It seems that for many years, especially post-WWII, the U.S. Navy used this island for practicing ship-to-shore and aerial bombardment. By the 1970’s natives had successfully petitioned the US government to stop this. That tank is a WWII era M4 Sherman. I believe stories of radiation sickness are fabricated, since the Navy would not have done nuclear testing on a populated island. There is undoubtedly unexploded ordinance still there however.
