Hey fella. At some time could I get a stills photo of you doing something with the boat because i'd like to do a blog piece about what you're doing….I run both a written/photographed blog and recently started a Youtube channel but that's only coming along like a Contessa 26 going backwards !

Long keeled boats can be a total sod going astern….it's do with the shape the rudder and keel makes which can 'suck' the boat the wrong way. The best trick I ever learned when working solo, which is most of the time, is to set up a line from the middle of the boat with a loop on the end and the tail going to a cockpit winch. You probably worked that out by now but i'm a bit late to the party here .

That was a bloody impressive first docking. When I first had my boat (20') I spent 2 days doodling about on board, pretending to myself that I was doing jobs & "getting used to the boat". But really I was just plucking up the courage to motor out of my berth. Great videos.

I had a Sadler 25 got it cheap, fell into two months of debt at the marina for mooring, went down to pay it off and they wanted the equivalent of five months rent, didn't have it and they took my boat, she was a beauty just needed a bit of attention as all old boats do…still upset about it..

Two bits of advice I've heard:
Never approach the dock faster than you would want to hit it.
Go slow like a pro, not fast like an ass.

That was probably the second most butt-pucking experience you had as a new boat owner. Think of the other boats as expensive pinatas, but you, or your ins. company, has to pay when you break them open.

The 360 camera is great I might try getting one as I film on my phone mostly so don’t get manoeuvre videos as I’m busy
