I can't sail without paper charts and printed tide tables/tidal stream atlases. Use electronics a lot, but they don't give me the sense of certainty that a mark on a chart (and a written log) will give. I can see what's coming, right in front of me on the chart, and the past is there too – the numbers in the logbook, the marks on the chart, all paint a clear and simple picture of what's happened and what I can expect next.
