Why returning back the same way you came?
If you cruise the Med, enjoy the first 90 days through Spain, France and Italy. "Sit out" the other 90 in Montenegro, and spend the other 90 in Greece and Cyprus. There is always Turkey in the neighborhood to jump off the Schengen area, and if you reach the eastern edge of the Mediterranean, why not cross the Suez canal and continue east to complete the full circle?! 😉

Such a bummer you were right in front of the famous Titanic museum, and you didn't go inside. I can't believe you did that.
I took my boat to Gibraltar.which counts as going out of Schengen for VAT purposes. Also the French do a 1 year tourist Visa which cost about €300 which will let you stay in France (and EU) for 1 year. Which is cheap considering the amount you might spend on flights/hotels etc to go to/from EU
