Next time you you start feeling sea sick, get up where you can see outside and focus on the horizon. The sea sickness is caused by your brain receiving conflicting information. When below deck, your ears are telling you you are moving, and your eyes that you are not. Getting to a position where you can watch the movement of the boat (by focusing on the horizon) allows your senses to get in sync with each other and helps reduce the nausea.

As for it being “pretty hairy “, wait till you get out on the ocean!
