I took it that your starter battery wasn’t totally shot, but what are your thoughts on it’s lifespan prior yo going to the Caribbean?

I was always told to never connect anything to the starter batterie, well, other than the starter of course. Did you say your bilge is connected to the starter batt? It seems a strange setup… maybe I didn't understand right.
